El día que supimos podíamos tener trillizos.

(English below)

WOW!!! Shock. Shock. Shock. Madres! Wadafock!?????

No enfoco… mis ojos no enfocan bien.

Shock! Tengo un chingo de miedo! Tenemos que salir adelante. Vamos a salir adelante!

The day we found out we were having triplets.

Before you start reading what I wrote right after coming back to work from the OBGYN with my wife, the day we found out we may be parents of triplets, with twins at home, I have a couple of notes to make. Mostly for context. First, this first time we went to the ultrasound (around week 7), we saw 2 healthy heart beats and a third sack that was TBD, too early to call that day. The doctor told us it was early in the pregnancy and maybe if we had come a day later, we would’ve seen the triplets already, but we did not. We spent the following week in limbo, thinking, barely sleeping and trying to rationalize if we were going to have another set of twins or if we were going to see a third healthy heart beat. Second, we didn’t go through any fertilization treatments. We knew there was the possibility of having a second set of twins, slim, but possible. But triplets, not even in our craziest dreams.

Well, here are the words that my brain in shock was able to put together that day, while sending signals to my shaky hands to type on the computer:

Is it 2 or 3? Are we going to be 6 or 7?

WOW!!! I’m in shock. Shock. Shock. Holy mother of moms!!! WTF!??!?!?

I’m on the 26th floor, in a 4 x 6 room… I have my orange flavor Vitamin Water (Zero), a phone and a trash can on my side. 2 or 3…? How are we going to do this? This was the second thought that went through my head after the doctor told us “I see two healthy heart beats” (after a big WOOOWWWWW!!!). I just came back form seeing the doctor with my wife. I feel I’m going to faint, I’m shaking, I’m nauseous (like my wife but for different reasons).

Holy smokes! 2 or 3? Holy s#it! How are we going to do this?

God, please, let everything me ok. Let the twins or triplets (triplets… WHAT?!) be ok, be healthy and strong. Let my wife, the strongest and most loving woman and mom I know, be ok. Honey, this will get real! And nobody, NOBODY is as ready as you are to tackle this.

2 or 3… how are we going to do this? I’m glad we bought a minivan. We’re gonna fill it up. I can’t focus… my eyes aren’t focusing well. This is a deja vú from the twins, but possibly with a third one. HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!!!!

I was going to tell my boss but wasn’t able to. I think somebody was with him but may have been in the restroom, and I didn’t want to be interrupted in middle of our shock moment. I’m in shock! I’m fucking scared! We have to be ok. We will be ok!

I just checked Facebook, I’m back. Just wrote a couple of plans for the future. Let them become reality and come with huge successes.

How are we going to do this? I’m pretty sure there are plenty of support groups for dads like myself. Dads who don’t have deep pockets and have to feed plenty of mouths. ADM? Anonymous Dads of Multiples? DWASTP? Dads Who Are Shitting Their Pants? Ok. I’m done. I don’t know what else to write. I’m in shock!

2 or 3… are we going to be 6 or 7?

Vasectomy.
